Personality: A Look at You

Below are two word clouds. One represents my personality traits and the other is my values. The purpose of this assignment was to show that you understood the difference between values and traits as well as identify your own. I created this project using a website that generates word clouds templates.

1. I often suppress some of my core personality traits when I first meet someone. I don’t like to be right in very bodies face when they don’t know me very well. I think I do this so that I don’t come off as annoying, and so that people like me more.

2. Some situations were my traits are amplified are when i’m around my friends and family. I feel very comfortable around my friends and family and this allows me to be somewhat vulnerable and myself. I don’t ever feel like I have to hide parts of myself to be liked or welcomed.

3. A trait that as shown to make my life somewhat difficult is being reliable. Though I believe it is a good trait to have, I often end up getting stuck doing things I don’t always enjoy but feel obligated to do. I sometimes feel like if I don’t do something, or don’t show up to something that I am letting people down, so I usually just keep doing it. I think if I were to go about changing this trait I would be more straightforward with people about what I enjoy doing so that I wouldn't be asked to do things I don't like doing.  

4. A trait that separates me from my friends is being practical. I care more about actually doing or using something were as my friends focus more on theory and ideas. This shows especially in school.

5. A subconscious motive for being hard-working, determined, and driven in my education would have to be because of the difficulties I had in school growing up. I had a hard time hearing, so I struggled in language arts, and focusing on topics. Since I didn’t do very well in those departments in elementary school, I have worked really hard to improve in them in high school.

6. I know that when I work hard at something my parents always tell me that they’re proud of me. This is like my reward for working hard, so I try and do my best at everything, because I know if I do that my parents will be pleased with me no matter what.  

7. I think I definitely try to match or “beat’ my friends when it comes to school. It can be quite the competition between us when report cards come out. I think we do this because we are all study really hard and get similar grades, so when one of us does better, even if it’s only by a fraction of a percentage, you get to hold it over the other person's head, and feel almost as if you’re better than them.

8. The way I think people perceive me definitely changes the way I act around them, and I totally behave differently in situation i’m not completely comfortable with and will often act out of character. My behaviours are influenced by the people around me, and how they make me feel.

9. My goal of going to University largely shapes many of my personality traits. I don’t think I’d be as motivated, ambitious, smart, or driven if I didn’t have anything to work toward.
