Reflection #8: Resiliency

Updated: Jun 19, 2019

1. Resiliency to me is a way to describe someone you can push through the hard times and make it out the other end strong. It is someone who doesn’t crumble under pressure. It is someone who rises to the challenge and can adjust and adapt when faced with adversity. Someone who shows resilience continuously overcomes their hardships without any reward. They do this because they have been taught not to give up or they know they can’t give up.

2. In grade 10 I was figure skating and I was the only girl my age and in my level skating. Because I only skated with younger skaters I didn’t have many friends to hangout with while I was skating. I didn’t have anyone to look up to, or compare myself with. At times I thought about quitting, since there was no one really pushing me to go further. But I didn’t because of my love for the sport, and my reasons for quitting weren’t personal reason. I’m glad I didn’t because now I have a job working with the skate club that I won’t have got if I had quit.

3. I think I can improve my resilience by not procrastinating as much. Often when there is something that I know is going to be hard and take a lot of work, I’ll put off doing it. I believe a true resilient person tackles tasks head on without the fear of them being difficult.
