Stressful Situation: Story Time

This project was quite simple. All we had to do was either make up a story or remember a stressful situation, and write how you dealt with it. The story had to clearly give an example of a coping method. For my story I wrote about an experience I had.

Three months ago a test was book, a date was set, and the pressure was on.  For a grade eleven, getting your N is a big accomplishment, and I was set on a path to succeed. The days leading up to the test were stressful. Between getting driving lessons, practicing on my test car, and cramming in all the last minute tips, the only thing that was keeping me going was the thought of being able to take the open road all on my own, and let the feeling of freedom run through my hair. I had to practice over and over again, in hopes that the experience would guarantee a win for me.  The day was finally here, and all I could think about was, ‘don’t fail, the last thing you want to do is go back to school and tell everyone you’ve failed. You have to do this.’ I showed up to my test, nervous. My spaghetti legs and sweaty palms would not not stop me from passing. I went in, feeling prepared and almost over practiced. I was gonna get it. I started driving. We went through intersection after intersection, things were going good. I headed back to ICBC, confident that I had passed. The instructor looks at, and breaks the news. I didn’t quite pass. How? I go back to school with my head hung low. I guess I was just gonna have have to practice some more so that I would never have to feel that way again.

Great story - I'm worried that it's not based in fiction!
